Library & Information Technician Employment

Graduates of studies in library and information technicians are employed in four traditional types of libraries: academic, public, school, and special.

Employment opportunities vary in levels of responsibility and may include positions at technical, supervisory or managerial levels. Duties can be limited to public or technical services or include both areas, depending on the size of the library.

Alternative employment opportunities include electronic publishing, market research, electronic reference, online and library system vendors, consulting services, prospect research, information services industry, records management, indexing, website design and Internet training.
