Welcome to the Ontario Association of Library Technicians / Association des bibliotechniciens de l’Ontario

Conference Highlights from #Renewal2016

This year’s conference, dubbed #Renewal2016, was a huge success for the Association. Our executive board is almost full, with only one position remaining open, and a few new faces stepping up and joining. Over 50 members and non-members were in attendance.

About #Renewal2016

Located at beautiful Fern Resort in Orillia, Ontario the conference’s theme this year was renew, revitalize, and refresh. Letting our minds be filled with new ideas. We opened the event with words from both the Mayor of the Township of Ramara Mr. Basil Clark, as well as the Chippewas of Rama First Nation Chief Rodney Noganosh.

It was a weekend of exciting and informational seminars, networking, and great food.

The consensus Saturday evening was that their peanut butter pie was the overall winner. Almost all of our attendees ordered it for dessert. For a treat of your own, here is a link to a pie that tastes almost the same http://momstown.ca/2013/05/27/peanut-butter-pie-inspired-fern-resort/. For best results use a pre-whipped cream cheese, and real whipped cream.

Two awards went out that night, the Innovation Award and the Presidential Award. The Presidential Award was given to Mr. Michael-David Reansbury for his innumerable contributions to the Association over the past year. The Innovation Award was given to Ms. Katherine Butler for creating online conference registration, and Mrs. Lori O’Connor for making membership fee collection digital.

The folks over at Lib Wardrobe, based in the USA, followed the fashion action and compiled a Storify for us here https://storify.com/libwardrobe/renewal2016.

Thank you to everyone who came, we hope to see you next year. Stay tuned over the next few months for information about our 44th conference in 2017.
